Wanderling is a virtual pet for iPhone that is born from one real place and moment and grows only from the kilometres you actually walk together. No account, no server, no ads.
Steps taken while the app is closed are read from the iPhone's motion data the next time you open it. Allow Settings → Wanderling → Motion & Fitness. While the app is open, walks are measured with location; allow Location → While Using the App. Journeys by car, train or plane with the app closed count only when Travel Mode is switched on in the Journey sheet (it needs Location → Always).
The map only draws paths recorded while the app was open. Walking with the phone in your pocket still counts kilometres, it just leaves no line.
Its fullness ebbs slowly around the clock and a little more per kilometre. Food is foraged on real walks (about two finds per kilometre) and won in the mini-games (a few snacks per day). Feed it from the basket.
Which whispers the creature may send, and quiet hours, are set under Journey → Reminders. All reminders are created locally on your device.
Two devices must be physically near each other with Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth on. Nothing but the creatures' invented names is exchanged, directly between the two phones.
The whole game is free. The keepsakes (passport PDF, birth certificate, dream journal, map poster, star album) are optional one-time purchases. Restore them anytime via Passport → Keepsakes → Restore.
